| The first-class lounge Mohave began life as a pool coach on the Santa Fe's renowned El Capitan and Chief streamlined passenger trains. After nearly two decades of service on the Santa Fe, the car began another two decades of service for Amtrak. Purchased from Amtrak by Mid America in the mid-1990s, the Mohave underwent an extensive rebuilding that combined the newest railroad systems and safety technologies with the distinctive Santa Fe ambience of the railroad's great Streamlined period. The resulting Mohave set the industry standard for long-distance first-class private coaches and pioneered the luxury coach class in private railroad cars. | |
